Tamil language one of the classical Dravidian languages of India and spoken by over 65,500,000 people across India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Mauritius. This is considered the oldest living language in the world and is the official language in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is also commonly spoken in other parts of the country like Puducherry and the Andaman and Nicobar islands.

 

Tamil Script is used to write the language and has descended from the Brahmi and Grantha scripts of ancient India and dates back to the Ashokan period in its earlier form. The earliest discovered inscriptions of this abugida script date back to 2,200 BC. The script has undergone numerous transformations and the form we see today was developed around 8th century AD and later simplified for the ease of printing.
